Name that Holy Book #6: Ten Virgins

Here's a piece of divine inspiration that says it's ok to marry more than one woman, as long as the first wife is ok with it and that they all had intact hymens at the time of marriage.
And again, as pertaining to the law of the priesthood, if any man espouse a virgin, and desire to espouse another, and the first give her consent, and if he espouse the second, and they are virgins, and have vowed to no other man, then is he justified; he cannot commit adultery for they are given unto him; for he cannot commit adultery with that that belongeth unto him and to no one else.
And if he have ten virgins given unto him by this law, he cannot commit adultery, for they belong to him, and they are given unto him; therefore is he justified.
What is it with the hymen fetish that religious nuts have? I'll never understand it.

Well, what book does this come from? No cheating!

Hint: This work is so divinely inspired that it was eventually repealed, because it caused a lot of trouble. As a matter of fact, it's still causing problems, because some cults still believe that it is the inerrant word of God.

I suspect that the hymen "fetish" arises from the preference of raising only one's own children.
"But what of the possibility of her post-marriage infidelity leading to pregnancy?", you ask? Easy: Kill all cheating wives. God commands it.

Exactly, Sav. This section of this particular holy book actually does prescribe death ("descruction") for adultery or even not being a virgin at the wedding.

More Hints:

The cult that followed this holy book's commandments were known early in their history for all kinds of attrocities.

The main cult of this holy book has calmed down quite a bit, but there are still splinter groups that follow this holy book that are very extreme. They have caused much harm and have recently been in the news.

You wish, Mark.

More hints.

The guy that wrote this book, also claims that a dead prophet/angel gave him some magical spectacles with which to translate unknown languages with.

The book is part of a body of holy books known as the Standard Works.

THE DOCTRINE AND COVENANTS
SECTION 132:61

Hell, can't live with one, I would shoot myself if I had to live with ten.

Got to give a man credit if he can make it work though....

You win, Richard. Too bad, there's no prize.

Doctrine and Covenants 132: 61-62
This is part of the revelation that Joseph Smith Jr. allegedly had that commanded him (and eventually other mormon men) to take more than one wife. Later in 1890 the LDS church renounced polygyny (plural marriage) in order for Utah to be accepted into statehood. The renuciation is known as OD-1.
