It's in The Bible: Omnipotence does not come with infravision.

God's going to punish the inhabitants of Jerusalem, but he needs a flashlight to see where the evil-doers are hiding.
And it shall come to pass at that time, that I will search Jerusalem with candles, and punish the men that are settled on their lees: that say in their heart, The LORD will not do good, neither will he do evil. Zephaniah 1:12
Yep! It's in The Bible.

Metaphor! It's a metaphor, duh. Can't you tell when to read the bible metaphorically and when to read it literally?

Not that I can tell you what the metaphor means, who can? God is unknowable...

Maybe God is still all-seeing, but has trouble seeing in the dark. Maybe the stars in the sky are His tiny candles in the firmament. Maybe the Bible was written by stone age pastoralists who didn't know how light travels.

Either way, it shall come to pass -- hey, isn't that one of those oft-repeated phrases that make up 50% of the Book of Mormon to fill up space? And so it was. Personally, I prefer "So it goes."

They may claim to, but factions often differ!
