Name that Holy Book 04: 38, 39, 41, 42, 49, 51, 52, 59!

This weeks divine inspiration comes from one of my favorite holy books. This book was originally written in an unknown language (possily Vogon?), but was translated to english with the help of magical stones.
And thus did the thirty and eighth year pass away,
and also the thirty and ninth,
and forty and first,
and the forty and second,
yea, even until forty and nine years had passed away,
and also the fifty and first,
and the fifty and second;
yea, and even until fifty and nine years had passed away.

What inspiration! I had to wipe a tear from my eye! Such beautiful words can only come from God.

Well, any guesses?

I'm going with the Pearl of Great Price, myself...

Oh, this is such an easy one! The Visigoth Druid Stonehenge Book of Zimbabwe, right?

PF, you win and the prize is the right to say you won! Way to go!

The Book of Mormon
4 Nephi 1:6

Much of the BoM is filler. Joey Junior needed to make his "bible" a bit more wordy so he came up with redundant and surperflous verses like this one. He also added a healthy dose of "exceedinglys" and "came to passes" just to make the BoM sound more biblical.

I would also venture a guess at either the Book of Mormon or the Pear of Great Price.

Oops...meant Pearl not pear. But either or it makes no sense anyway.

I leafed through the BoM once. It struck me as the sort of thing a sheltered 16 year-old would come up with if he was trying to write a holy book. The whole thing was just, well, silly.

Yeah, the BoM is quite silly. Joe Jr. uses non-sense phrases like "Dwindling in Unbelief", makes up words like "Ziff", and even creates unknown OT prophets like "Zenos".

I love it that one of the BoM books even end with Adieu, which was a common way of signing off letters during Joe Jr.'s day. The problem is that it's french and that book was supposedly written 300 years before Jesus.

Really? Adieu? I'd never heard that before. It's kinda hilarious, though.

Adieu is found in Jacob 7:27 in the BoM.

Hey, I found this via The Skeptic Annotated BoM.

Wherefore, my brethren, hear me, and hearken to the word of the Lord: For there shall not any man among you have save it be one wife; and concubines he shall have none; Jacob 2:27

I guess that Joe Jr. never read his own holy book. Well, maybe you can break your holy books rules if you were the one that wrote it.
