It's kind of a paradox, I guess.
That isn't a church, right? It is an atheist sign. It has to be, isn't it?
Or maybe not, if the assumption is that a god actually made man.
I believe it to mean people are taking the liberty to describe gods in to many different versions then the biblical one.
How strange it is that god cannot describe himself other then man is made in his image. He should be able to do better, like it sounds just maybe man himself made it up.

The phrase is about false gods and religions. Christians believe God made man in His own image. Christians also lament that people today create their own "gods" to give them the "liberty" to do whatever they please.
