Jesus Said It #08: If any man come to me...

Most Christians today say that Jesus promoted family values. I can't count the number of times that I heard that the family that prays together stays together. So, what does Jesus have to say about family?
If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple. Luke 14:26
This one verse seems to be saying that Jesus encouraged his followers to leave their families. As a matter of fact, he seems to be saying that if you love someone else, then you can't love Jesus enough to satisfy him. This verse makes Jesus sound like more of a cult leader than like the son of God.

This verse is in stark contradiction to many other verses in the bible.
Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him. 1 John 3:15
See also Leviticus 19:17 and 1 John 4:20-21.

No inconsistencies in the Libel, Robert - none at all! BTW, how did Judas die?
